Joann Culler Mcdowell Findley
Mrs. Joann McDowell Findley, known to many as “Nanny Jo”, age 86, went to her heavenly home early Wednesday morning February 14, 2024, at Chatham Nursing and Rehab. She was born January 23, 1938, to the late Edward Culler and Sally Cox. Mrs. Findley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to the many that were blessed to have known her. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy McDowell; son and daughter-in-law, Edward McDowell and Lisa; her grandchildren and spouses, Cristy White and MJ, Justin Collins and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Leah White, Mackenzie White, Hunter Collins, Kyrsten Collins, Emory Collins; sisters and brother-in-law, Lucille Hamm and Junior, Christine Bowman; nephews, David Hamm, Kevin Culler; nieces, Maryann King, Dawne Simpson, Debbie Hamm, Shawne Priddy and Becky Boyd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William McDowell; nephews, Mark Hamm, James Hamm, Gary Gibbons and niece, Tracie Gibbons. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy at 3 PM. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until the time of the service. The family would like to thank the staff of Chatham Nursing for all the love and care given to Mrs. Findley. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
