Joann Lawhorn, 86, of Vinton, went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a member of Vinton Wesleyan Church for many years, always living her life with the Lord in her heart. She loved her family beyond words, and her joy was having them with her anytime the opportunity was there. This made her complete. She owned a ceramic shop for over 20 years and taught many people the art. She was an avid painter of things she found to be of beauty and things that meant a lot to her.She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Sidney Allen Lawhorn; parents Ruby and Jesse Hawkins. She is survived by her children; Jeff Lawhorn (Cindy), Steve Lawhorn (Pat), Connie Gribble; grandchildren, Jesse Lawhorn (Kristina), Josh Lawhorn (Claire), Jeremy Lawhorn (Jennifer), Chase Lawhorn (Kayla), Brittany Lawhorn, Taylor Lawhorn, Zach Gribble (Kayla), 10 great grandchildren and her lifetime friend, Nancy Lee Hayes. The family would like to thank her excellent care givers Cindy Fralin and Jamie Bernard for their loving and detailed care they showed to our mother,. We could not have done this without them helping us to keep her at home. mOur gratefulness can never be expressed enough or our appreciation. The family would also like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Good Samaritan Hospice of Roanoke. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m at Lotz Vinton Chapel, Pastor Ricardo Rodriguez officiating.
