Joanne M. Mount

Joanne Margaret Mount of Clifton Forge, Virginia passed away on February 27, 2024.  She was 81 years old. 

Joanne was born on January 13, 1943 to Albert and Margaret White of Neptune, New Jersey.  The last of four siblings, Joanne graduated from Neptune High School in 1961.  She married long-time family friend Joseph Mount in 1969 and accompanied him throughout his long career in the United States Navy. 

Upon Joseph’s retirement from active military service the Mounts moved to northern Virginia where Joanne rose to prominence as the business office manager for Robinson Terminal, the sole provider of paper for the Washington Post and one of the largest firms in the Port of Alexandria. 

Joanne retired with her husband to the small town of Dumfries, Virginia.  Joanne was witty and articulate.  She adored her husband and her dogs.  She was proud of her vast collection of romance novels, US Navy memorabilia and Whitehouse Christmas ornaments. 

While Joanne and her husband never had children they doted on their nephews, nieces and the children of their closest friends.  Joanne is preceded in death her husband, Joseph Theodore Mount.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Arlington National Cemetery at a time to be determine. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, an organization they cared deeply about.
