Joe Tinsley

Joe Tinsley, age 79 of Rocky Mount, departed this life on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He was born in Franklin County on August 16, 1944. He was the son of the late Gilmore “Pete” Tinsley and Frances Alice Tyree Tinsley. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy L. Mackenhimer, Phyllis M. Mackenhimer and Mary L. Mackenhimer; one brother, Michael Tyree Tinsley; three nephews, Tommy Tinsley Jr., Jerry Mackenhimer, Corey Tinsley; and two nieces, Tara Tinsley and Trudy Gilbert. Joe was a friendly, hard-working, loving person. He worked for Bassett Furniture Co. for many years and helped people within the community. Those left to cherish his memories are five sisters, Nannie Zeigler, Betty Tinsley, Georgia (Elder Herbert) Prunty, Brenda Montgomery and Shelia Tinsley; three brothers, Charles (Wanda) Tinsley, Thomas Tinsley and Howard Tinsley; and a host of relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at the Tinsley Family Cemetery, 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2023. Visitation will be held 10-12 noon Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
