Johanne Groll Nixon

Johanne Groll Nixon, age 83, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025. She was born on November 9, 1942, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Henry Groll and Victoria Grace Dalinski Groll. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Nixon, Jr., and by two sons, Ralph Lawrence Nixon and Christopher Douglas Nixon.

Johanne was of the Catholic faith. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper in the accounting industry, where she was known for her diligence and reliability. A devoted wife, mother, nana, and friend, Johanne cherished her family above all else. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, and traveling. She also loved to socialize and brought warmth and kindness wherever she went.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Patti Johnson (Chipper) and Marie Nixon (Karen); her son, Kelly Nixon (Cassie) her daughter-in-law, Melanie Nixon; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her lifelong friends, Patty Shields, Gail Lohmann, and Joan Mancarella, along with a host of extended family members and friends.

A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel at 6:00 p.m. with Dennis Cline, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Henry Memorial Park.
