John Bowe

John Bowe Jr., 79, passed away on November 29, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 26, 1943 in Danville, VA to the late Ethel Garrett Bowe Covington and the late John Henry Bowe. He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Clara Mebane Bowe.

John was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, and was also a member of VFW Post #29. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. He worked for many years in maintenance at Danville Regional Medical Center previous to his retirement.

In addition to his loving wife, John is survived by a son; Kevin Bowe and wife Theresa of Marion, AR; a daughter; Deidre Bowe of Danville, VA; four grandchildren; Chymaiah and Zoe Bowe of Marion, AR and Tamyra and Anthony Brown of Danville, VA; a daughter in law; Camille Bowe of Los Angeles, CA; a sister in law; Faye Jeffries of Austin, TX; a brother in law; George Mebane of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by a son; Ray Bowe; two sisters; Eleanor McNeill and Dorris Harper; and a brother; Wilbert Bowe.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 2901 Bertha Wilson Road, Providence, NC 27315 with Pastor Roderick Fitz presiding and eulogy by Pastor Teresa Hardy. Interment will immediately follow at church cemetery. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence.
