John Calvin Whitt

John Calvin Whitt, Jr. 52, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 18, 2025, while living in Cary NC. John was born in Loudon County, VA on February 14, 1973, to Bessie Ruth (Lewis) Whitt and the late John Calvin Whitt, Sr. John was never married, but during his life he was fortunate enough to have a host of wonderful and faithful friends, as well as family members. He was truly loved by everyone.

John was proud of the fact that he obtained his Registered Nursing degree and worked for many years at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. Prior to working at Duke, John worked for Sovah Health, Danville, VA.

In addition to his mother, John is survived by a sister, Betsy Whitt Tanner (Steve) of Portsmouth, VA, a niece, Brooke Caffee (Chris) also of Portsmouth, VA, a nephew, Tyler Tanner (Alyssa) of Virginia Beach and an aunt, Janice Bickford (Richard Hudson) of Reidsville, NC.

A Graveside Service to honor the life and legacy of John will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11:00 am at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA.
