John Charles Lewis

John Charles Lewis, age 51 of Portland, OR and formerly of Danville, VA passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 at Smith Mountain Lake. John was born May 25, 1971 to Katherine King Lewis and the late Jack Ramie Lewis, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lewis; children, Ella Kate and Ian; and brother, Garland Lewis. Also surviving are his aunts, Brenda L. Martin, Linda L. Caldwell and Judith P. King; and many cousins. John earned a MBA degree; Executive Management from the University of Arkansas. He has worked all over the country in the transportation industry. Most recently was CEO of Truck Depot Brokerage. Those that worked with John knew he was driven, loyal, honest , and intelligent. They also knew his dedication to his family and friends were his top priority. John was a lover of off roading, tennis, mountain biking and anything involving the outdoors. He loved big and always wanted to build up those around him. He was a giver, builder and a complete renaissance man. Services will be held at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Scruggs Fire and Rescue Department.
