John Dawson

John Michael Dawson, age 72, of 205 Houston Street, Lexington, Virginia died on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Heritage Hall Health and Rehab in Lexington.

John was born on June 10, 1953 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Joseph Chapman Dawson and Mary Belle Givens Dawson. He was a graduate of Alleghany High School and worked as a tire mechanic for Wholesale Tire in Clifton Forge.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Mike Dawson; two sisters, Dorothy Clark and Emma Wright; and a brother, Billy Dawson.

He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Dawson of Eagle Rock and Katie Dawson; a son, Scotty Dawson; a sister, Linda Wright; a brother, Dean Dawson (Theresa); and a number of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge at a later date. His cremains will be placed in Lone Star Cemetery, Potts Creek, Covington.
