John Earl Lester

John Lester Sr., 77, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. John was born on February 21, 1948 in Parkersburg, WV to the late Kathleen Wright Lester and the late Paul Robert Lester.

John was of the Christian Faith, and a faithful member of Blairs Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the Unites States Army, serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam conflict. He had a special love for his entire family, especially his son, John Lester Jr.. John worked for many years as an antique dealer/collector and had a wealth of knowledge when it came to all things as such.

John is survived by a son; John Lester Jr. (Renee) of Blairs, VA; a daughter; Mary Lester of Chesapeake, VA; a sister; Ella; a brother; Charles; six grandchildren; John Lester III (Karley), Owen, Ari, Deuntay (Ben), Daniel, and Ceiria; one great grandchild; Nolan Lester; special niece; Susan James; and a whole host of numerous other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by four siblings; Margaret, Betsy, Carol, and David.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Blairs Baptist Church, 5260 U.S. highway 29, Blairs, VA 24527.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 4;00pm at Blairs Baptist Church, 5260 U.S. Highway 29, Blairs, VA 24527 with Pastor John Lester officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held on the same day prior to the service from 3-4:00pm also at Blairs Baptist Church. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence of his son, John Lester Jr.
