John Harvey Moore

John Harvey Moore, 90, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. John was born on August 30, 1934, to the late Eva Etta Milam Moore and the late Dudley Courtland Moore. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Mrs. Margaret Evans Nealy Moore.

John was of the Christian Faith and a member of The Tabernacle. He worked for over 30 years as a Tire Inspector at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company previous to his retirement. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by a son; John “Johnny” H. Moore Jr: a daughter; June Moore Hill and husband Mike; a step daughter; Melinda Nealy Pyron and husband Bill; a step son; Wesley B. Nealy; three grandchildren; Amanda (Jason), Anastasia (Michael), and Michaela; five great grandchildren; Caroline Grey, Eleanor, Marley, Walter and Conner; and special friend; Ronnie Taylor

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his first love and the mother of his children; Rachel Carlisle Moore; and a sister; Ruth Ann Moore Dickinson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2024, at 2:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA, with Pastor Joey Bray officiating. A visitation will be held on the same day prior to the service from 12:30-1:45pm also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA.

Family will be receiving friends at other times at the home of the daughter, June Moore Hill.
