John Henry Thompson

JOHN HENRY THOMPSON, 68, of Bland, VA, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Lewis Gale Medical Center.

John was born on March 12, 1955 in Bastian, VA, the son of the late Glenn Shuler & Dory Ann Wright Thompson.

He was a devout Christian who loved his church and Jesus. He attended Mountain Top Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was kind, generous to help and loved by everyone he met. He was an A.A. Sponsor and had helped many overcome their addictions. He worked for Sadler’s Heating and Air Conditioning for many years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren and he will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Shuler & Dory Ann Wright Thompson and his brother, Billy Thompson.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Samantha Ann Thompson; his son, Daniel Henry Thompson, Sr.; his grandchildren, Michael Logan Weyant, Karassia Lee Weyant, Mikayla Nichole Weyant and Daniel Henry Thompson, Jr.; his great-grandchildren, Dixie Leann Cox, Eli Slate Cox, Trinity Blaine Cox and Marabella Paige Miller; his brother & sister-in-law, Lloyd Shuler & Mary Thompson; his sister, Linda Jane Thompson; his niece, Crystal Thompson; and many cousins and special friends. 

The family will receive friends at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 4:00 P.M until 6:00 P.M. Per his wishes, he will be cremated.
