John "Jl" Lacy Haymaker
John "JL" Lacy Haymaker passed away on March 3, 2025, after years of prolonged illness. Until his health declined, JL led an active lifestyle, immersing himself in his passions for motorcycles, ATVs, camping, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. He took great joy in maintaining his property, often spending hours working with his tractor.
JL had a deep love for dogs and spent much of his time in the company of many cherished furry companions over the years.
For over 20 years, JL served as a commercial plumber and pipefitter with GJ Hopkins and later Colonial Mechanical. He also obtained his CDL and drove a LTL tractor-trailer for Overnight/UPS Freight.
JL was a devoted husband to his surviving wife, Ila Haymaker, with whom he shared nearly 33 years of marriage and a total of 36 years together. He is also survived by his sister, Tina Beverage, and nephew, Nathan Beverage, along with his wife, Dawn.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eunice J. Epling; stepfather, Sanford Epling; father, John G. Haymaker Jr.; and maternal grandparents, Lacy and Ocelia Huffman.
In accordance with JL's wishes, he will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Godwin Cemetery in Fincastle, VA, near both of his grandparents beside his grandfather, Lacy Huffman.
In honor of JL's memory, the family requests that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org
