John Lee McNeil

John Lee McNeil, 51 years old, of Rocky Mount, passed away on January 6, 2023 after winning his battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Jesse & Mamie Anderson, paternal grandparents Ned & Ruby McNeil & step-father Robert Hutcherson.

He is survived by his wife, Debora McNeil, father, Harold E. McNeil, mother, Gail Hutcherson, his children, Evan McNeil, Brooke Wagoner (Jacob), Sydney Wagoner (Jalen) & Kyle Wood (Sarah). His sister, Stephanie Zapiecki (Adam). His grandchildren, who he adored, Kinley, Sawyer, Ava, and Ezra, and his beloved nephews Owen & Jack.

John loved dancing and singing spontaneously (even though he had no rhythm), riding his grandkids around on the lawnmower & 4-wheeler, watching football on Sundays with his family, he adored his wife & children and loved each and every one of his nieces and nephews.

John will be missed by so many; he fought a long, hard battle and has officially won. He is now dancing freely and carelessly in the golden room with our formerly lost loved ones.

There will be a memorial service held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Doe Run Christian Church.
