John Madison Strickler
It is with profound sadness to inform that John Madison Strickler, 74, journeyed on his forever cruise Saturday, March 16th, 2025 peacefully in his sleep while at home. Born August 12, 1950 to pre-deceased Conway Garfield Strickler Sr. and Winnie Porterfield Strickler, Blacksburg Virginia native John is survived by his staunt companion Juno, his daughter Jessica (Jason Hiner), brothers and sisters-in-law CG. (Karen) Strickler, David Strickler (Darlene Conrad), Joe (Karen) Strickler, Nephews Blake, Corey, David, Eric and nieces Stella, Tamara,. A Civil Engineer in construction management, John was passionate and always outstanding in his field. He founded Madison Transport, ran two dump trucks and loved operating heavy machinery. He helped build and manage many of the local roads we use today, as well as many other impressive projects. He loved rally racing in his youth, keen on Citroën vehicles. Later, he treasured his daily cruises through ‘The Valley’ with his daughter Jessie and bulldog Della, friends, and family. Driving always included a lull at Dry Run creek or under the Tulip Poplars. John could always be counted on for laughter and some vexing. Hollywood missed an inherent actor, a one-of-a-kind man full of love, character, mischief and kindness. Though withdrawn in later years, John Strickler will be lovingly remembered by so many friends, family, coworkers, and acquaintances. Cherished memories imperishable. One More, Dad. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, at McCoy Funeral Home.
