John Maxwell Bailey

John Maxwell Bailey, Sr., 78, of Salem passed away on February 21, 2025.

John was born in California on January 16, 1947. He moved to Salem, Virginia, as a child and has lived here since then. John was preceded in death by his parents, Merritt and Margaret Bailey; brother, Merritt Bailey II and sister, Margaret Barbabella.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Joyce; two sons, John and Chris; brother, Gordon (Joann); sister-in-law, Jerri Lewis (Andy); niece, Mary Margaret (Boo) Bailey; and nephews, Merritt Palmer Bailey III (Karen) and Daniel Lineberry (Katrina).

His graveside service will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
