John "Mickey" Clayton Craddock

June 8, 1942 - August 6, 2025

John “Mickey” Clayton Craddock, 83, of Martinsville, VA went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. He was born on June 8, 1942, in Martinsville, VA to John Wilbur Craddock and Carrie Lee Handy Craddock. In addition, he is predeceased by his wife, Patricia Marie Marshall Craddock; sister, Jayne Craddock Hankins; son William “Peanut” Craddock; and grandson, Danny Compton.

Mickey worked as an electrician for Teague and Trull for many years until they closed. Afterwards, he became self-employed where he used his electrical skills residentially and commercially. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, watching his favorite westerns, listening to the Blues, and a sippin’ a cold one. Mickey was known for speaking his mind—always honest, often funny, and never afraid to say what others wouldn't. His strong will and tough nature were matched only by his sharp wit and ability to bring laughter in any situation.

He is survived by his daughters; Cynthia Marie Thomas (Randy), Carrie “Squeaky” Compton (Steve, predeceased), and Kimberly Craddock Dandridge (Warren); grandchildren, Jody Harris, Clayton Craddock (Katelyn), David “Chubby” Compton (Kaitlyn), Dyana Dandridge, Alyson Dandridge, Beth Cox-Ingram, and Callie Thomas; great-grandchildren, DJ, Karley, Ian, Ryder, Blair, Aaron, Paitynn, Roman, Milani, Jayden, Rayelyn, Payelyn, Kayelyn, Sadie, and Ava; special friends, Joan, Margie, Ginger, Sandra, Vicky, and Skip; and his dog, Lucy Bell.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff in the CCU at Sovah Health in Martinsville.

A memorial service for John will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville, with Pastor Jason Alverson officiating.
