John Phillip Fry
It is with profound sadness that we announce that on October 18, 2024, at the age of 82, John Phillip Fry, of Pelham, NC, born November 23, 1941, surrounded by family, gained his Heavenly wings after an extended battle with dementia.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Fry, Sons, John Fry, Jr. (Michelle), Carl Fry (Stephanie), 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and brothers, James and Glen Fry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorimer and Ellen Fry, sister, Janice Fry, daughter, Colleen Fry, and grandson, John Fry, III.
John attended Westover Baptist Church. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., of Danville, after having worked for 11 years in Jackson, MI, and 19 years in Danville, VA. After retirement, he spent countless hours volunteering with God’s Pit Crew, Habitat for Humanity, and Transitions (Little Life). He was an active member of Redman. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and woodworking in his shop.
The family will hold a funeral service on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Hermon Chapel of Norris Funeral Services, Danville, VA, officiated by Pastor John Cline and Johnny Scearce. Interment will follow at the Fry Family Cemetery, 2855 Hinesville Rd., Danville, VA.
Prior to the funeral service, the family will receive friends, also at the Mt. Hermon Chapel of Norris Funeral Services, on Tuesday evening, October 22, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The family will also receive friends at the residence.
