John Russell Boyer

John Russell Boyer, 39, of New Castle, left this world on Monday, January 12, 2026. John was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher L. Boyer; grandparents, Charles S. and Mary Elizabeth Spraker, Russell F. Boyer, and James W. Broughman, Jr.; and his special dog, Marlowe.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Rosie and Kevin Broughman, and Jeff and Terrie Boyer; his son and the joy of his life, Levi Boyer; his former wife, Kristen Guthrie and her son, Deacon, who absolutely adored John; grandmothers, Roberta Roberts and Kim Broughman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.

John was born on May 30, 1986 and was a graduate of Craig County High School. He had a deep love for the outdoors and spent much of his life hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing—places where he felt most at peace. John was known for his adventurous spirit and his love for nature. Despite the struggles John may have faced over the past few years, his love for his family, especially Levi, never wavered. He will be eternally missed by all who loved him.

A small memorial service will be held at a later date.
