John Thomas Adkins

John Thomas Adkins, Jr. age 86 of Ringgold, Virginia passed away Monday, October 27, 2025 at Roman Eagle Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Adkins was born April 10, 1939 in Danville, Virginia to the late Maggie Hall Adkins and the late John Thomas Adkins, Sr. On November 5, 1960, he married Jean Guill Adkins, who survives at the residence.

Mr. Adkins proudly served our country in the US Army, he retired from Dupont and he attended Glen Hill Baptist Church. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, grandfather, uncle, and friend to everyone who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife of the residence, he is also survived by his grandson, Jonathan Thomas Adkins; nieces, Sharon Adkins Simms (Walter) and Shelia Adkins Dodson; nephews, Patrick Boyd Adkins (Hannah), Jeffrey Gene Barbour (Roberta), and Michael Lynn Barbour; and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Guill Barbour and Toni Boyd Adkins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved son, Daryl Wayne Adkins; brothers, Stanley Neal Adkins and Kenneth Wayne Adkins; his niece, Misty Lauren Adkins; sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Adkins; and his brother-in-law, Bobby Gene Barbour.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 30, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Service, West End Chapel with Pastor Barry Solomon and Pastor Walter Simms officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., also at Norris Funeral Service, West End Chapel. At other times the family will receive friends and family at the residence.
