John William Franklin

John “Johnny” William Franklin, 67, of Bassett, Virginia passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024. He was born July 2, 1957, in Roanoke, Virginia to the late William Henry Franklin and Barbara Jean Curry Franklin.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of ten years, Donna Lynn Wike; and granddaughter, Cierra.Johnny loved to golf, fish, and watch football, as well as other sports, but he was a huge Carolina Tarheel fan. He liked to cook on the grill and loved spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. Johnny was a loving father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather.He is survived by daughter, Jessica Donovant (John); sons, Justin Franklin (Krystal) and Travis Franklin (Jamie); sisters, Wanda Janey (John) and Karen Mantel (Chris); brother, Greg Franklin; grandchildren, Jordan, O’Ryan, Alexis, J.C., Lindsey, Anthony, Zoey, Tyler, and Jase; great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Keaton, Wyatt, Jesslynn, and Jonathan; special friend, Kim Richardson; several nieces, nephews, and friends.The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Young’s Family Cemetery, 1421 Fork Mountain Road, Bassett, Virginia.
