Johnnie B. Penn

Johnnie B Penn, 89, of Spencer, Virginia, transitioned from his earthly home on Thursday, January 9, 2025. He was born December 24, 1935, in Patrick County to the late Bonnie Penn and Viola Johnson Penn.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Era A Penn; sister, Velma Martin; brothers, Dee Penn, Leonard Penn, and Richard Penn.Johnnie was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he was faithful to attend. He was dedicated to his work and retired from DuPont after twenty-nine years, where he worked on A shift as a Type 29 operator and was a proud member of the A shift Fire Brigade. He was a graduate of Patrick Central High School. He enjoyed spending his free time outdoors, especially hunting, and fishing. Most important and dearest to him was his family. Johnnie was dearly loved and will greatly be missed.He is survived by his sons, Wayne Penn (Becky) of Swansboro, NC, Bishop Michael Penn (Angela) of Martinsville, Virginia, and Greg Penn of Spencer, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.The funeral will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Bishop Michael Penn, Eulogist, Michael Penn and officiant, Pastor Richard Spencer. Interment will follow at Patrick Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held one-half hour prior to the service. A floating visitation will be held Friday, January 17, 2025, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel from 1:00 PM-5:00 PM.Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
