Johnny Carson Carter
Johnny Carson Carter, 79, transitioned from this earthly life July 17, 2025, in Ridgeway, Virginia. He was born the youngest of four boys on December 1, 1945, at his home in Covington, Virginia, to the late Harry Taft Carter and Cora Lee Landrum Carter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Carter and Leonard Carter.
Johnny graduated in 1964 from Covington High School and then received an Associate’s degree with a focus in mechanical engineering technology at Virginia Western Community College. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a highly skilled instrumentation technician throughout his career, which included 25 years at Miller Brewing Company.
Johnny enjoyed fixing, tinkering with, and maintaining all things mechanical, such as old cars, lawn mowers, and home appliances. He cherished spending time with friends and family and was always there to help people in times of need. He enjoyed antiquing with his wife and tending to his bird garden where he knew the birds so well that he even named some of them. He loved animals, rescuing and caring for many during his lifetime.
Although his physical presence is no longer with us, his legacy of love and kindness that he left behind will leave indelible prints on the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 beautiful years together, Bobbie Jean Chambers Carter. He is also survived by his sons, Brian and Brad Carter, along with their wives; his brother, Glenn Carter; and one grandchild.
