Jon David Allen
Jon David Allen, beloved father, brother, and uncle, passed away on June 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication. He was born on July 26, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Joseph Donald Allen and Nancy Lee Allen (Urban).
Jon graduated from Canyon High of New Braunfels, Texas in 1979. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS Kalamazoo, during his time of service. Following his military service, Jon built a long and respected career as an electrician, retiring from Detroit Edison in 2020 after working at the St. Clair and River Rouge plants.
In his younger years, Jon had a passion for speed and competition and raced boat #8M for Coyote Racing under the American Power Boat Association (APBA). He was an avid reader with a deep love for science fiction, especially Star Trek, and he carried that curiosity and imagination throughout his life.
Jon was deeply committed to his family. He was a constant source of support and strength—always stepping up to help, protect, and care for his loved ones without hesitation.
He is survived by his daughter Megan Mannahan (Aaron Krul); his niece Natalie Riley (Shaun); his sisters Teri Allen, Wendy Allen-Nash (Andy), Traci Beyer; and his brother Donald Allen (Krysti). Jon had a special bond with his great-niece and nephews: Rebecca (Jessie), Jonathan, Zachary, and Lucas, as well as his bonus great-niece and nephew, Keira and Reece. He had several other nieces/nephews that he always held close to his heart.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Nancy Allen; his uncle, William Allen; and his former partner, Carol Mannahan.
A celebration of Jon's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory, share stories, and celebrate the man who meant so much to so many.
A memorial service at Great Lakes National Cemetery with Military Honors will be taking place at a later date for family.
