Joseph Andrew Kast
Joseph Andrew (Andy); Kast, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025,in Wytheville, VA, at the age of 55. Born on October 31, 1969, in Indiana,Joe’s vibrant spirit and infectious laughter left a lasting impression on all whohad the pleasure of knowing him.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Elledge Kast, his devoted children, Jarren Gud, Desiree Locke (Jett), and Ariel Kast. He was a doting grandfather to Violet Peaton, Aaliayah Ritz, Dylan Gud, and Adeline Locke, and a proud great-grandfather to London Ritz. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings, Richard Kast (Jody), Mark Kast (Marie), Eric Kast (Michelle), MaDonna Overstreet (Rick), and Anita Kast Weber. Joe’s memory will also be cherished by his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Richard Kast Sr. and Wanda Cordell Kast.
Joe’s life reflected resilience and was grounded in a faith that was uniquely hisown. He was an iron-willed individual with an internal strength, even when thebattles he fought were within himself. He loved his family wholeheartedly andcould be found doing random acts of kindness for strangers. Joe appreciatedhard work and spent much of his life as a skilled pipe welder and constructionworker. Though he no longer worked in the trade, his love for craftsmanshipnever faded. Joe could never sit still; he always found ways to stay busy,whether building, fixing, or lending a helping hand.
Joe enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: gathering with friends and family, makingpeople laugh with jokes and witty commentary, connecting with the outdoors,and above all, loving his coffee, which was mostly sugar. These were knownamong those who knew him best.
The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Angels Rest Memorial Gardens in Narrows, Virginia where he will be laid to rest with Pastors Paul Terry and John Thornsberry officiating. A Celebration of Life will conclude all services and will be held at 113 Northview Street, Narrows, Virginia 24124.
