Joseph "Joey" Abraham Viar

Joseph Abraham “Joey” Viar, 66, of Lynchburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 4, 2025 at his residence.

Born December 31,1958 in Lynchburg, he was the son of Virginia Patrick Viar and the late Ernest Woodson Viar, Sr. and was also preceded in death by his beloved sister, Judy Viar Ford.

Joey was a retired janitor with Walmart and was a former employee of Eddie’s Tree and Viar’s Garage. He was a long-time member of Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, Joey is survived by his daughter, Meghan Brooke Stecker and her husband Jason; two grandchildren, Mason Scott Stecker and Journey Grace Stecker; two brothers, E.W. Viar, Jr. and fiancée, Shannon Brooks and Harold Lee Viar and wife Debbie and a sister, Deborah Jean Guill and husband Lewis, all of Madison Heights. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Jeffery A Guill, Lindy G Cash, Michael Viar (Brittany Ennis) and Melissa Viar (Lyle Carver), as well as four great nieces and nephews, Benjamin Cash, Lily Cash, Charleigh Carver, and Hadley Viar.

A funeral service to celebrate Joey’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Gary L. Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Tyreeanna United Methodist Church Cemetery. Following the service the family will receive friends and family at 184 Fernridge Court Madison Heights, VA 24572.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2025 at the funeral home.
