Joseph “Joey” Wayne Sherwood, 59, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024. He was born April 4, 1965, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Albert Richard Sherwood, Sr. and Shirley Jean Lusk Littles.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jody Kay Sherwood.Joseph attended George Washington Carver High School. He enjoyed watching TV and riding his scooter. He loved spending time with his wife and family.He is survived by his loving wife Barbara of thirty-one years; daughter, Jennifer Wisner; son, David Lee Hundley (Wendy); brothers, Albert Richard Sherwood, Jr., Samuel Lee Sherwood, and George Jacob Sherwood; grandchildren, Juan Ramone Gomez, Winifred Marie Gomez, Jeramy Eli Gomez, David Lee Hundley, Jr., and Dixie Kay Hundley; niece, Autumn Grace Sherwood; nephews, Samuel Lee Sherwood, Jr., and Nathan Gillespie; numerous other grandchildren and cousins.All services will be private.Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
