Joseph Louis Wells

Joseph Louis Wells, 84, of Bassett, Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the home of his daughter. He was born on November 10, 1939, to the late Dave Wells Jr. and Sylvia Via Wells. He was preceded in death by his son, Corey Lee Wells, and two sisters, Eleanor Wells Easley and Ravenell V. Wells.

Joseph was a member of the Greater New Bethel Apostolic Church, where he served as an usher. He was employed by J.D. Bassett Furniture for 46 years prior to retirement. He enjoyed working in the yard with his flowers as well as building things with wood.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Fannie Wells of Bassett; his daughter, Leslie Debaere (Charles) of Martinsville, Virginia; one brother, Edward Wells (Oliva) of New Jersey; his granddaughter, Searia Wells of Bassett; and his great-grandson, Malcholm Dawson of Bassett.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry V. Hairston officiating. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service and other times at the residence of his daughter. A burial will follow immediately after the service at Fair Haven Memorial Park in Spencer, Virginia.
