Joseph Wayne Wirt

Joseph Wayne Wirt, 40, of Daleville, went to be with his Lord July 4, 2023.

Joe was a respected employee of the USDA Forest Service and previously worked for Botetourt Fire & EMS. He proudly served his

community as a volunteer fire fighter. He was Fire Chief and a life member at Hollins Fire and Rescue #5.

Joe is survived by daughter, Audrey Wirt; son, Nicholas Wirt; mother, Arlene Billet (husband, Larry); father Larry Wirt (wife, Eve); sister, Melissa Davis (husband Jared); step-brothers (Rich and Mark Winstead); step-sister (Christine Winstead); fiancé, Caitlin Mitchell and her two children Hayli and Logan; and many nieces and nephews.

Joe loved his children and his family. He loved hunting and was an avid outdoorsman.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Melrose Baptist Church July 22, 2023 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am July 22, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel. (540)366-0707.
