Josephine Austin Wade

Josephine Austin Wade, 85, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, after a long journey with dementia. 

She spent many happy years as an active member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church, alumna of Fincastle High School (’56), secretary, retiree, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Thomas Ely Wade; and parents, Nelson Luther Austin and Blanche Lumsden Austin. 

She is survived by her daughters, Donna DeLoria, and husband, Richard, and Nita Pierce and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Richie and Kathy DeLoria, and Jessica and Paul Gray; and great-grandchild, Michael Gray.  The family extends special thanks to all of the caregivers, staff and volunteers who ministered to Mom with such devotion and loving care during her time at The Glebe and in the Chaplick Center. 

Visitation will be Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Noon, with funeral service following at 1 PM, at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville, VA, and interment following at Godwin Cemetery, 152 S. Church Street, Fincastle, VA.
