Josie Alice Walton King

December 26, 1975 - February 13, 2025

Josie Alice Walton King, 49, of Bassett, Virigina departed this life Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Stanleytown Rehab Center, Bassett, Virginia ending a lengthy battle of illness for thirteen years. She was born December 26, 1975, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Edward D. Walton and Nancy Hairston Walton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Deacon William Henry and Evangelist Alice Hairston, Madgeline Lillie Bethea, and John and Minnie Walton.

Josie was a member of Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church of Martinsville, Virginia and was baptized in Jesus Name by the late Pastor Carrie H. Martin. She later became a member of House of Purpose Ministries of Bassett, Virginia under the leadership of Pastor CJ Martin. Josie worked as a CNA for a number of years. She loved to sing and was always ready to go shopping at any given moment. She enjoyed driving around and loved being socially active and talking to people. Josies favorite saying was, “The Joy of the Lord Is My Strength” Nehemiah 8:10, and she stood by those words even into her final days here on earth.

She is survived by her sisters of Martinsville, Virginia, Evangelist Valaire (Deacon Robert) Pilson, First Lady Dianne D. (Reverend George Sr.) Price, Pamela Walton, and Gwendolyn Walton; brother, Deacon Madison Darryl Hairston (Gertrude) of Princess Anne, Maryland; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Wright Funeral Service with Suffragan Bishop Bernard Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service. A floating visitation will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM, at Wright Funeral Service.
