Joyce A. Mittelstetter
Joyce Alfreda (Settles) Mittelstetter, 85, of Salem, VA. went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, October 8, 2023. Joyce was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed watching the Wheel of Fortune, sitcoms from the 80s & 90s, the Washington Capitals, the Little League World Series and PBA bowling. Although she never attended a game in person, she was a Roanoke Railyard Dawgs fan and enjoyed keeping up with the score via text with her children. When not watching her favorite shows or sports, she could often be found reading her Bible, a good book, or solving word search puzzles. Joyce’s pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She was an avid bowler for many years and retired from the Salem-Times Register after many years of service.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ted; grandson, Chris Mittelstetter; son-in-law, Tim Cummings; sisters and brother-in laws, Marie Seale, Juanita Mullins (Silas), Lola Mullins (Limon), Lois Haupt, Janet Benson (Jack), Nancy Benson (Sam); brothers and sister-in-laws, Earnest Settles, Ralph Settles, Jack Settles (Lois).
