Joyce Helen Candace Marshall Edwards Berrier

Mrs. Joyce Helen Candace Marshall Edwards Berrier, 76, of Cana, VA, peacefully entered glory on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Mrs. Berrier was born February 15, 1948, in Carroll County, VA, one of twelve children born to the late Oscar and Lilly Mae East Marshall. Joyce loved her family and friends, but most of all she loved Jesus. Her memory failed over the years, but her love for Him and the assurance of His love for her never faded. Her greatest desire would be that you know that same love. She is survived by two sons, Brian Edwards (Vanessa) and John Edwards; a stepdaughter, Michelle Allen (Jeff); a granddaughter, Yasenia Hawks (Isaac); two sisters, Ruth Whitaker and Edna Shelton (John); a brother, Fred Marshall; a brother-in-law, Ralph Berrier; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Berrier was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip William Fred Berrier; five sisters, Gertrude Boles, Mary Chappell, Betty Jo Blackburn, Janette Goode, and Rachel Starnes; and three brothers, Alexander Marshall, Benton Marshall, and James Marshall. A service of worship and celebration of Joyce’s life will be held Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Lambsburg Baptist Church, with the Rev. Israel Easter officiating. Burial will follow in the Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service. At other times, the family welcomes friends to Joyce’s home at 3428 Flower Gap Road, Cana, VA.
