Joyce Horne Goad

Joyce Horne Goad, age 81 of Haymakertown, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at her home following a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Joyce was born May 17, 1941 in Matoaka, West Virginia and lived in Haymakertown since 1958. She was the daughter of the late Norman H. and Julia Hale Horne. Joyce worked for Singer Furniture (Johnson –Carper) for more than 26 years and for Goodwill Industries for eight years. She loved her grandchildren and was a member of Daleville Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, David M. Goad; two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her sons: Andrew Goad, and Phillip (Brittany) Goad all of Haymakertown; daughters: Susan (Jim) Huff of Willis, Virginia, and Karen Blanchard of Ocean Isle, North Carolina; grandchildren: Landon (Jessica) Blanchard, Grace, Lily, Noah, and Payton; brothers: Maynard Horne of Vinton, Gerald “Chipper” (Pat) Horne of Botetourt County, and Sheldon (Mary) Horne of Haymakertown; and sister, Doreene Cundiff of Salem.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 21 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with Reverend Joel Wegner and Pastor Jeff Pickett officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Friday.
