Juana Hernandez Estrada

Juana Hernandez, 35, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024, at her home in Dry Fork, VA. Born on July 23, 1989, in Michoacán, Mexico, Juana was the 2nd youngest of four children of Angeles and Victor Hernandez. She spent her early years in Michoacán before moving to the United States at the age of 5. Juana attended Chatham High School and went on to graduate from Danville Community College on August 31, 2018 with a degree in Radiologic Technology.

Juana was deeply devoted to her family and friends. At work, she was known for her unwavering commitment to her patients and coworkers, bringing warmth, empathy, and a bright smile to every interaction. Outside of her career, her heart belonged to her beloved children, Adrian, Gio, Vanessa, Moises, Alexandria, and Sophia Gomez, and her husband, Moises Gomez. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will live on in their hearts.

Juana had an incredible sense of style and a love for fashion, often finding joy in shopping and helping others look their best. She was quick to lend a helping hand, support those in need, and share her remarkable sense of humor. Known for her infectious laughter, Juana could light up any room, making everyone feel seen and appreciated. Her selflessness extended far and wide—always there for others without judgment, even in their most difficult times.

Juana’s home was a place of warmth and welcome. Family, friends, and new acquaintances alike were embraced with her open heart, a listening ear, and an unwavering kindness. Her hospitality, compassion, and generosity touched everyone who knew her, leaving a lasting impact.

Juana is survived by her siblings, Noemi Betancourt, Victoria Gomez, and Victor Hernandez; her treasured children, Adrian, Giovanni, Vanessa, Moises, Alexandria, and Sophia Gomez Gomez; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who will forever remember her gentle spirit and loving heart. Her legacy of compassion, laughter, and unconditional love will live on in the lives of those she touched.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 540 Central Blvd., Danville, Virginia. Juana will be laid to rest at 4:30 p.m. at the Hernandez Family Cemetery, 1552 Jones Mill Road, Chatham, Virginia following the Funeral Mass, Friday, November 8, 2024.

A visitation will be Thursday, November 7, 2024, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Service, Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Tpke., Danville, Virginia.

At other times, the family will receive friends and family at the residence.
