Juanita Marie Bailey Cumbee, affectionately known as Ree to her friends and family, a resident of Bland County Nursing and Rehab and formerly of Pembroke, Virginia passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, in Wythe County, Virginia. Born on April 17, 1943, in Virginia, Ree's life was a testament to the love and care she bestowed upon those around her.

Ree was a devoted homemaker, a role she cherished and in which she excelled. Her home was a hub of warmth and affection, not only for her immediate family but also for the extended family and friends who were frequently drawn to her nurturing presence. She had a remarkable talent for making everyone feel at home.

She is survived by a loving family that includes her sons, Joe Bailey and his wife Linda, James Cumbee, and Walter Dwayne Cumbee with his wife Sheila. Ree's legacy continues through her five adoring grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye. Her sisters, Ruby Bailey, Carolyn Bailey, Edna Price, Patty Collins Thompson with her husband Rodney, and Linda Collins, affectionately known as "June Bug," along with her sister-in-law Linda Bailey, and several nieces and nephews, will remember her fondly for her wisdom, laughter, and unwavering support.

Ree was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Miller Cumbee, and her cherished son, Darrell Wayne Cumbee. Her parents, Jim Bailey and Ella Sarver Bailey, as well as her sister, Sandra Gail Bailey, and brothers, Teddy and Jimmy Bailey, also predeceased her. She was further preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Elmer Collins and Henderson Price, who were dear to her heart.

Her interests revolved around the joys of everyday life. Ree's garden was a place of beauty and solace, where she spent countless hours cultivating both flowers and vegetables. Shopping was not just a chore but an adventure for Ree. Going on a ride through the Virginia countryside was one of her favorite pastimes, as it allowed her to revel in nature's splendor and the changing seasons. Above all, Ree's greatest passion was her family. Taking care of them was not just a duty but her most significant joy. Her influence and teachings remain as a guiding light for her family, who will continue to honor her memory by living out the values she instilled in them.
