Judith Maryanne Butera

Judith Maryanne Wilk Butera, 79, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. Born on October 15, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Victoria Wilk.

Judith was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald Gambale; her second husband, Joseph Butera; her sister, Sonia Franco; and her parents, Walter and Victoria Wilk.

She is survived by her loving step-son Dean Butera, her godson, James Schaeffer; and her great-nephew, Jaden Schaeffer. Also surviving is her niece Sharon Gusler and Nephew Jimmy Mallow. Judith is also survived by numerous other family members, including special family in South Philadelphia, who always held a special place in her heart.

She was blessed with 13 grandchildren: Grayson Bennett, Brianna Harper, Ivy Heath, P.J. Heath, J.C. Cooper, Scott Heath, Madison Hambrick, Anthony Butera, Timothy Oliva, Amanda Butera, Vicky Olive, Steven Butera, and Matthew Butera. In addition, she is survived by her god daughter Nicole Lyons.

Judith had a long and successful career in finance, working in payroll at Avis Car Rental. She had a deep love for music and played in a band during the 1970s and 1980s. She also shared her passion for music by teaching piano to many students over the years. Judith was an avid animal lover and found great joy in tending to her flowers and enjoying the beauty of nature.

Judith’s warmth, talent, and love for life will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
