Judy Ann Painter

Judy Ann Painter, 72, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, at Mulberry Creek Assisted Living. She was born April 22, 1951, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Cloyd Painter and Annie Fowlkes Painter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim Painter and Irvin Painter.

Judy was a proud graduate of Virginia Tech. She taught in the Henry County Public Schools for over 30 years. She made many close friends during her time with the school system. Judy’s favorite thing to do was spend time with friends and family. She also enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Judy has left her love and memories to her sister, Audrey Lawson of Richmond, Virginia, and her nieces and nephews, Peggy Lucas, Sandra Chilton, Kim Cotter, Lynn Thompson, Anne Marie Painter, John Painter, David Lawson, and Shane Painter. She also leaves behind many great memories and wonderful friends.

The family would like to thank her friends who visited, took her out, and participated in their monthly lunch group. The family is grateful to them for filling her life with such joy. The family particularly wishes to recognize and thank Ashby Pinkard, Cheryl Haynes, Janice Critz, and Diane Stone for their regular visits, assistance, and deep friendship with Judy.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Mulberry Creek Assisted Living and Mulberry Creek Rehab for their care and support for Judy.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
