Julian R. Payne

Julian R. Payne, Jr. age 88, of Dry Fork, VA passed away June 2, 2023, while living in Mebane, NC. Mr. Payne was born March 5, 1935, in Pittsylvania County to the late Julian Respas Payne, Sr. and the late Gertrude Thornton Payne. He was married to the late Clennie Marie Keatts Payne, who predeceased him in 2020. Mr. Payne was an equipment operator in the construction industry for many years prior to his retirement. Mr. Payne will always be remembered as a loving husband and a kind-hearted uncle and brother-in-law.

Mr. Payne is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, as well as two sisters, Cheryl P. Reynolds, and Trudy P. Benard (Charles) and a brother, Harold Payne. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two sisters-in-law, Adrienne Payne and Janie Payne, and a brother, Danny Ray Payne.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, VA with Rev. Bob Yeaman officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, VA. Prior to the funeral service, the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
