June Hunt Buchanan

June Hunt Buchanan, 86, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026. June was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on June 2, 1939 to the late Gladys Shelton Hunt and the late Cloy Dallas Hunt. She was also predeceased by her loving husband, Mr. Billy Gene Buchanan.

June was of the Christian Faith. She was a faithful member of West End Church of Christ where she served as pianist as well as assisting in many other areas. June worked for the Pittsylvania County School Board until her retirement.

June is survived by a daughter; Tia Harmon and husband Henry “Buzz” of Chatham, VA; a son; Brian Buchanan (Sandra); grandchildren; Daniel Trent, Caleb Harmon, Christian Buchanan, and Olivia Buchanan.

In addition to her husband and parents, June was predeceased by a sister; Jeanette Hunt.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving and caring staff and nurses at Amedisys Hospice, especially Carol Bullins, Alisha Lamm, Karina Verjovkina, and Melissa Bates.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Northern Pittsylvania County Food Bank at 402 Chaney Lane, Gretna, VA 24557.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 11:00am at West End Church of Christ, 610 Vaden Street, Gretna, VA 24557 with Pastor Randy Parker, Brian Buchanan and Daniel Trent officiating. Interment will follow at Sheva Church of Christ Cemetery, 4920 Chalk Level Road, Chatham, VA 24531. A visitation to receive family and friends will be held at her residence on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 from 6-8:00pm.
