Jureshy "Rushy" Jane Schaffer

Jureshy "Rushy" Jane Schaffer, 71, of the Salem and Masons Cove area, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 28, 2023. She was born on August 2, 1951, to the late Arnold Smith and Della Bell. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed working with her hands to make beautiful works of art. She also loved to play bingo! In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her foster parents William and Glenna McHone, sister, Vicky Smith; and brother, David Smith.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband of 53 wonderful years, Jesse Kelly “JK” Schaffer; sister Lavonia Stewart, two sons, Richard Kenneth Schaffer, and Jeffrey Kevin Schaffer and wife, Cherie; one daughter, Tami-Michelle Yvette Kimberlin, and husband, James; three grandchildren, Christian Tyler Martin and wife, Caitlin, Noah Austin, and Willow Hannah-Jane; three great-grandchildren, C.J. Thea, and Zayden; special friends David and Hannah Slocum and Peach Dewease; sister-in-law, Sandra Farmer; and several nieces and numerous friends as well as her three cats, Cassie, Caddie, and Precious.

A special thank you to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, Lewis Gale Medical Center and Salem Health and Rehab for the care they provided for our loved one for the past two months.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at
Cedar Lawn Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, VA.
