Kary Jay Jessup

Mr. Kary Jay Jessup, 75, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday afternoon, March 3, 2023, at his home. Mr. Jessup was born April 25, 1947, in Surry County, one of three sons born to the late Earlie Garfield and Vera Susan Blair Jessup. Kary graduated from East Surry High School in 1965, and he later graduated from Surry Community College. He retired as a dispatcher from WilcoHess and was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Yvonne Golding Jessup of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Jessie Jessup of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, James Jessup and Lilly Jessup, both of Mount Airy; and a brother and two sisters-in-law, the Rev. Kenneth and Pansy Jessup and Carol Gilley Jessup, all of Pilot Mountain. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jessup was preceded in death by a son, John Ryan Jessup; and a brother, Bobby Keith Jessup, Sr. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
