Kathleen Ann Shanahan Bowman

Mrs. Kathleen Ann Shanahan Bowman, 82, of Laurel Fork, VA, gained her angel wings on Monday evening, September 16, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Bowman was born January 29, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine O’Connor Shanahan. Kathleen worked as a certified nursing assistant for many years throughout North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deniene and Jamie Simmons; a son, Scott Bowman; her grandchildren, Dusty Simmons, Bailey and Christopher Brandon, Amber and Nick Thomas, and Brandon Shockley; her great-grandchildren, Roe Brandon, Rye Brandon, Case Thomas, and Cree Thomas; and a sister, Meg Mocci. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Gene Bowman; a granddaughter, McKayla Leigh-Ann Simmons; a sister, Patricia Shanahan; and a brother, Timothy Shanahan. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, September 27, 2024, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. No formal memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
