Kathryn Mathews Nute

Kathryn “Kathy” Mathews Nute, 69, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne Mathews and Richard “Dicky” Mathews; and her parents, George “Tinker” and Dawn Mathews.

Kathy is survived by her son, Jacob Nute (Jessica); daughter, Janine Mathews; grandchildren, Kaleb Nute, Travis Nute, Cashton Nute, Sylar Nute, and Harleigh Nute; brother, Gary Mathews; nephew, Casey Mathews; and niece, Poppy Tansey (Brian).

Kathy was fierce, loving, kind, and caring. She loved animals, specifically her dog, Copper. She was a very strong and independent woman that never gave up, always looking for better days. She was a hardworking individual who always gave back to the community. She loved God and her church family. Never forget that “Tomorrow is a new day.”

A Memorial Service will be held on August 8, 2025, at 12:00 pm, at The HEMI House of Hope, 1488 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24017.  Following the service, the family invites everyone to enjoy food and fellowship in honor of Kathy.
