Kathy Board Masincup

Kathy Board Masincup, 72, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on January 3, 2026, following a lengthy illness.

Kathy was born in Roanoke, Virginia, and was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Yetter; her father, Ernie Yetter; her sister, Joy Yetter; her brother, Paul Yetter; and her brother-in-law, Bob Pickle.

A graduate of Staunton River High School, Kathy enjoyed a career at Verizon, where she met her lifelong friend and beloved husband of 35 years, Wayne Masincup. Together with her husband, she enjoyed annual trips to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and also what she called “piddling” in her yard.

Kathy’s vivacious spirit, love of adventure, and ease of laughter were contagious to those around her. Through her disarming sense of humor and kindness, she never met a stranger and had numerous and special friends who were like family to her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wayne; sister, Susan Board; brother, Terry Board and wife, Mary; niece, Melissa Hodgkinson and partner Jason Sowers; great-nephews Alex and Zack Hodgkinson; brother-in-law, Dennis Masincup and partner Linda; sister-in-law, Beverly Masincup Dixon and husband Timmy; and furry nephews Pickles and Max.

A Celebration of Life will be held this spring when her cherished garden is in bloom.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Roanoke Valley SPCA to honor Kathy’s love of animals.
