Kenneth Andrew Wimmer

Kenneth Andrew Wimmer, 80, of Bassett, VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Sovah Health-Martinsville. He was born on February 12, 1943, to the late Luther Andrew and Roxie Elizabeth Wimmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life of 59 years, his wife, Judy Walker Wimmer and one sister, Shirley Handy.

He attended Roanoke Primitive Baptist Church. He worked at Leggetts as an assistant manager, after that he worked at Fieldcrest as a weave room supervisor until their closing, finally working at Glass Dynamics as a truck driver until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, wood working, listening to blue grass music, and playing his banjo and fiddle.

Kenneth is survived by his children, Angela Mullins (John), Johnie Wimmer, Wesley Wimmer (Ashley); three grandchildren, Drew Mullins, Kaitlyn Martin (Trevor) and Maddie Grace Wimmer; two sisters, Estelle Altice, and Gladys McPherson; five brothers, Glenn Wimmer, James Wimmer, Vernon Wimmer, Roger Wimmer and Lewis Wimmer; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service with Minister Tim Wood and Mark Walker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. The burial will be at Franklin Memorial Park immediately following the service.
