Kenneth D. Bushnell

Kenneth D. Bushnell, 98, widower of Helen Jackson Bushnell, to whom he was married for 75 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at his home with his family at his side. He was born in Kenmore, Ohio on November 21, 1926, a son of the late Walter G. and Dorothy Freed Bushnell. He has been a Roanoke resident since 1979.

Ken held a Master’s degree from the University of Akron, where he also served as the Alumni Director, and a Master’s degree from Kent State University. He later joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served during WWII. Ken was also a member of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction Scottish Rite.

He will be missed and remembered by his son, Kevin Stewart Bushnell and his wife Barbara; his daughter, Gail Rae Hood and her husband Eugene Michael Hood; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice, especially, Lindsay, Ginger, and Tammy for the incredible love and care that was shown to them.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 4751 Cove Road, Roanoke, VA 24017.
