Kenneth Edward "Kenny" Via

Kenneth Edward “Kenny” Via transitioned to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 3rd,2022 in Martinsville Virginia. He was born July 18,1954 in Martinsville, to the late Henry Edward Via and Margaret Lucille Dandridge Via. He was blessed with a large and loving family and was the second oldest of 6 children. On October 29, 1980, Kenny married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Estelle Wade, in Los Angeles, California after several years of courtship. He helped raise his two boys with adventure, discipline, and humility. He was employed as a deputy for the Henry County Sheriff’s Department for 31 years before retiring in 2014. Kenny was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Lucille Via; his wife, Shirley Via; and brother, Thomas H. Via. Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Jarrod E. Via (Tisha) of Winston Salem, NC and Brandon D. Via (Daria) of High Point, NC; three sisters, Glenda V. Smith (Bobby) of Durham, NC, M. Cheryl Via of Martinsville, VA and Carol V. Broadnax (Marcus) of Ridgeway, VA; one brother, Joseph “Joey” A. Via (Ahmedta) of Greensboro, NC; four granddaughters, Hailey Tucker, Kassidy Via, Mariana Via and Gabrielle Via; one grandson, Braylon Via; four aunts, Reba Hairston, Mildred Dandridge, Priscilla Dandridge and Gwendolyn Eggleston; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. The funeral will be Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 12:00 pm at The Greater International Pentecostal Assembly building, Carver Road with Pastor Kavin Smith officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
