Kenneth Joe Slayton

Kenneth Joe Slayton, 74, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on July 14, 1951, in Danville, VA to the late Priscilla Dare Barbour Slayton and the late Robert Lee Slayton. He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. JoAnn Gregory Slayton.

Joe was of the Christian Faith, and a member of Schoolfield Pentecostal Holiness Church. He worked for many years as an electrician at Dan River Mills Inc., previous to his retirement. Joe had a special love for playing golf, and enjoyed spending time with his entire family.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by two daughters; Kim Bledsoe and husband Chad of Browns Summit, NC and Jennifer Myers and husband Lee of Providence, NC; a son; Clint Slayton and wife Tina of Providence, NC; two brothers; Weldon Slayton and Marlow Slayton (Wilma); a sister; Scarlet Simmons (Julian); six grandchildren; Dylan, Austin, and Kaley Myers, Taylor (R.J.) and Chandler Slayton, and Brandon Bledsoe; two great grandchildren; Everleigh and Addy Slayton; and his special dog; Josie.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 2:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Mr. Marlow Slayton officiating. A visitation will be held on the same day prior to the service from 1-2:00pm, also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel. At other times the family will receive friends and family at the residence.
