Kenneth Lewis Brickey
Kenneth (Sam) Lewis Brickey, 73, of Botetourt County, VA, took his last breath at lunchtime on September 13, 2025, after a four-year illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Gaynelle Brickey; his sister, Margie Brickey; and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his sister, Thelma Brickey; his brother and wife, Donald and Dona Brickey; niece, Amber Hall, and her husband Travis, and their children Kevin (JP) Gibson, Matthew Gibson, Alyssa Hall, Xander Hall, and Donavynn Hall; nephew, Donald Brickey II, and his children Jessica and Brandon Brickey.
Kenneth was a man of few words, but he did have his own mottos. Only those who knew him best would understand their meaning. He was a carpenter by trade and often a jack of all trades. He was always willing to help family with upgrades, or to build decks, roofs, garages, barns, and furniture. When he was younger, he enjoyed hunting coons or deer with extended family during hunting season in November, or simply spending time on the mountaintop with a beer in hand while the younger generations hunted.
He had many best friends he thought highly of, including Dan Freds and Steve Brickey, among others. As we reflect on all the good he brought into our lives, we encourage you to drink a 40 in his memory.
He will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to organizations supporting dementia research, as he called it, 'Old Timers Disease.'
